I am certainly not a 'chick flick' kind of gal, but I adored this film solely for the costumes that were on the mark authentic representations, of the feminine & fabulous 1940's. 'Allie', played by McAdams is the proper and polished rich girl & the wardrobe selected for her character in the movie was sheer perfection in replicating the swimwear, business wear and casual wear of that era...
The style of the 40's is easy to pull off for your own self, if that's the time period of fashion styles that tickles your fancy. Anything floral and flouncy, with muted hues will suffice.
Random fact: People have been so enamored with the romanticism of this film that they have even went as far as to have their engagement photos mimicking scenes from the movie, as pictured below...
