Our Frugal First Lady...

It's no secret that our current First Lady, Michelle Obama is beyond fond of designers like Alexander McQueen and Jason Wu, but did you know that she has been seen shopping for chic and cheap clothing at the Target store located near the White House?  It's true! Mrs. Obama was incognito with her floral print top, b-ball cap and shades as she browsed the popular chain.  On many occasion she has been seen wearing apparel from Target which we all know comes at a reasonably low cost.  She's also been out and about in J. Crew and The Gap line and makes no excuses for the fact that she also loves shopping at Walmart.  Given the status quo of being the wife of the President Of The United States, I don't ever recall a more 'frugal' First Lady...

NUDE....The New Black!

This just in...'nude is the new black'! From creamy khaki to barely there beige, it's just as simply chic as it's counterpart the LBD.

  
It's a given that the 'little black dress' is a must have for any wardrobe conscious fashionista, but the neutral skin tone nude hue is all the rage at this very moment! A lot of women stick to the LBD for the simple fact that it's a forgiving color and has an extremely slimming effect but regardless, the LND cut in a pattern appropriate for your figure and paired with the right accessories can be just as flattering...

The paleness of the LND goes fab with a splash of color but avoid accessorizing it with black as that will look way too harsh.

Black shoes are also a fashion faux pas as beige on beige has a leg lengthening appeal.

The number one thing to consider when searching for the perfect 'little nude dress' is your personal skin tone.  If you are pale, a darker shade of nude would not be the right fit for you and visa versa...if you're dark, a paler shade nude wouldn't be the right fit for you...  It's all about finding the right hue to compliment you!

MOD Monday

Remember the moderately popular t.v. show of the late 60's produced by Aaron Spelling called 'The Mod Squad'?  It was a police drama about three young hip crime fighters that portrayed a multicultural society and dealt with issues such as racism and drugs.

From this show, spawned a pop culture mod fashion icon named Peggy Lipton, an American born actress who played Julie Barnes on the series.  Prior to getting the acting gig, Lipton signed with the Ford Modeling Agency & was successful in that career for print modeling but not so much in regards to making it on the cover of any popular fashion mag.

  
She was coming in at the tail end of the mod era that was flowing towards the style of the hipster chic & she fit in perfectly with her center parted blond hair, peasant blouses, floppy hats, scarves, bell bottoms & flower power.  She was the perfect haute couture hippie who's vintage style continued to reign well on into the 21st century.
